In his remarks Thursday, Prout pointed out the major investment that TriHealth has promised to sink into McCullough-Hyde that will “provide many benefits to patients of the hospital and the surrounding community for not just today and tomorrow but for generations.” The shifting health care economy, including the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, has put pressure on the independence of community hospitals such as McCullough-Hyde. “TriHealth and McCullough-Hyde will learn a great deal from each other as we move forward with providing quality health care services for this community for years to come.”īryan Hehemann, chief executive officer of McCullough-Hyde, said, “TriHealth will make McCullough-Hyde stronger as we continue to provide full-service local health care to our community.” TriHealth President and Chief Executive Officer John Prout said during a signing ceremony at the hospital that the two institutions had been discussing a partnership for years. TriHealth will hold 60 percent of the seats on the board of directors, and the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital Trust will hold the rest. McCullough-Hyde, founded in 1957 in the home town of Miami University, will remain a not-for-profit, tax-exempt hospital, and it will maintain its commitment to charity care. TriHealth has pledged to spend at least $17 million to build a new emergency department, install a new information technology system and improve clinical services. ![]() A lengthy health care courtship ended Thursday as TriHealth acquired Oxford’s venerable McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, further expanding TriHealth’s reach into booming Butler County. ![]()
