Emma does GREAT work normally, this book was just so bad that her trying to make it better, made the failings of the telling so much worse. Not her fault, the writing was awful and she was trying to adapt to the (wrongly) written emptiness. Unfortunately the rendition of the TERRIBLE writing for Nagash was so jarring it made me want to turn off the audiobook every time. All of this felt empty, and a drier reading would have been more enjoyable. I want to applaud her.but honestly her attempts to put emphasis on flatly written characters made it worse. Emma tried to make the characters impactful in her performance. Only in the ABSOLUTE FINAL CHAPTER does the character match up.
